ON FEBRUARY 29TH 2016, PIN'S SECOND ANNUAL CONFERENCE will be held AT UTAH VALLEY UNIVERSITY. The conference WILL LAUNCH A NEWLY FORMED INITIATIVE IN IMPACT INVESTING CALLED THE UTAH IMPACT INITIATIVE (UII).
UII is being organized and promoted by UVU’s Woodbury Business School and PIN, assisted by Hawkins (one of Utah's largest accounting firms) and Keeler Thomas (one of Utah's foremost wealth management and family office firms). Other supporting sponsors include the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Development.
It will harness the energy and enthusiasm that PIN has generated over the past year among its current membership as well as the more than 250 philanthropists, investors and Utah leaders who participated in PIN’s first annual conference at the Living Planet aquarium in Draper earlier this year. UII will recruit to the initiative other leaders in impact investing found in government, education, business, investing and philanthropy around the state of Utah.
UII has set a goal to raise $50 million for impact investments in Utah-based social enterprises which we define as for-profit or nonprofit organizations that advance a significant cause and have sustainable business models. UII is collaborating with the Colorado Impact Initiative who have set their own goals for impact investing in their state’s social enterprises and we hope to challenge other states around the US to join with us and set their own impact investment goals.
